Research Areas:

  • Nano/micro fabrication processes
  • Electric and electrochemical micro/nano sensors and devices
  • Electrokinetically-driven microfluidic devices
  • Computational modelling of multiphysics systems

Víctor H. Pérez received the B.S. degree in electronics and communications engineering from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in 2006. He obtained the M.S. degree in electronic engineering with focus on telecommunications, and the Ph.D. in information technologies and communications with focus on micro-/nano- systems from Tecnológico de Monterrey in 2008 and 2013, respectively. From 2012 to 2013 he was a visiting researcher in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of the University of California in Irvine, where he developed 3D polymer electrodes for microfluidic applications and demonstrated their advantages when compared to conventional metal-based electrodes. During 2014 and 2015 he held a postdoctoral fellowship at Tecnológico de Monterrey.

In 2016, he joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Tecnológico de Monterrey with an appointment of research professor. At present, he is a member of the Nano- and Micro- Sensors and Devices research group at the same institution. He is a member of the Mexican Research National System since 2015. His research activities include micro/nano fabrication processes, computational modeling of multiphysics systems, electric and electrochemical based micro/nano sensors and devices, as well as electrokinetically-driven microfluidic devices and lab-on-a-chip systems.

At present, he has active research collaborations with Dr. Marc Madou at the University of California in Irvine, Dr. Rodrigo Martinez-Duarte at Clemson University, Dr. Blanca H. Lapizco-Encinas at the Rochester Institute of Technology, and Dr. Hitomi Mukaibo at the University of Rochester.
