  • Statistical modeling of degenerative disease progression
  • 3D rendering and modeling of medical images.

José Tamez-Peña holds a BSc in Physics Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Monterrey in 1989; MSc in Control Engineering from the Tecnológico de Monterrey in 1994; MSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester in 1996; and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester in 1999. Dr. Tamez-Peña is a Full Professor at the School of Medicine, member of the Research Group with a Strategic focus in Bioinformatics and CTO of Qmetrics Technologies LLC. He is a member of the National System of Researchers and Senior Member of the IEEE.  He has been the principal investigator of projects for industry and CONACyT. He has published more than 60 research articles in international journals and conferences. He has supervised 3 Ph.D. dissertations and 5 Master Thesis. In the past, he was the Chief Technical Officer of VirtualScopics INC.
