Research Areas:

  • Nano-materials
  • Plasmas, Physical Vapor Deposition, High power impulse magnetron Sputtering
  • Plasma Nitriding
  • Tribological applications

Joaquin Oseguera Peña obtained a doctoral degree in Materials Science in 1990 from “Institu National Politecnique de la Lorraine”, under the supervision of Prof. Henri Michel.  Dr. Oseguera has been in Materials Sciences at Tecnologico de Monterrey (ITESM), Campus Estado de México since 1990, he is member of the National Research System, currently rank 2.

Dr. Oseguera research topics are related to plasma surface modifications, particularly to produce efficient tribo-mechanical systems, hard surfaces or  functionalizing  components through sensors.  Through plasma assisted process, several commercial configurations to nitride steel or to produce thin solid layers, micro or nano-structured, has been developed.

Dr. Oseguera has held several national or international research grants, he is author and co-author of over 60 published papers, and over 10 patents.  He is President of the National Network for Surface Engineering and Tribology, from CONACyT.  More than 20 Doctoral Thesis were developed under his supervision. Two companies in the market were founded from research topics developed.
