Ciro A. Rodríguez is a professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey. He received a B.S. in mechanical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1989.  In 1993 and 1997, he received a M.S. and Ph.D. from The Ohio State University, respectively. He worked in the automotive industry as a supervisor of Computer-Aided Design. He also worked as Staff Engineer at the Engineering Research Center for Net Shape Manufacturing (NSF funded center) and at the machine tool company Cincinnati Milacron.  More recently, he was a Visiting Scientist in the Department of Plastic Surgery at The Ohio State University. And currently, he is a professor of the Center for Innovation in Design and Technology at Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Prof. Rodríguez leads a research group in Advanced Manufacturing, with funding from the Mexican government agencies, European Union, and several companies. He has been invited speaker at conferences and seminars in Italy, Spain, Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela, El Salvador, Costa Rica and US. He has been invited professor and researcher in Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, Spain, US, Italy and Portugal. His current research interests are in tissue engineering, additive manufacturing and micromanufacturing for medical devices.

The current active projects include a) design and manufacturing of multimaterial/multiscale scaffolds for tissue engineering, b) design of medical implants for spine and hip, and c) metal additive manufacturing for medical applications. These projects involve bench testing, in vitro testing, and in vivo testing with animal models.
