Alejandro Aragón-Zavala received the BSc with honors degree in electronics and communications engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Querétaro in 1992, the MSc with distinction in satellite communication engineering, and the PhD in antennas and propagation both from the University of Surrey, UK, in 1998 and 2003, respectively.

From 1992 to 1997, he worked as an automation expert and project manager for Hylsa, Puebla, and lectured at Universidad Iberoamericana Golfo Centro in Puebla from 1996 to 1997, in digital electronics and microcontrollers. From 1998 to 2003 he worked as an in-building radio design tools engineer and in-building radio consultant for Cellular Design Services Ltd. in the UK, and has collaborated with Real Wireless Ltd. UK in consultancy since 2009 to date.

In 2003, Alejandro Aragón-Zavala joined the Electrical Engineering Department at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Querétaro where he was appointed Program Chair in 2003, head of department in 2008, and chair of the recently created School of Electronics, Mechatronics and Computer Science in 2010. At present, he is a member of the Research Group in Telecommunications MTY. He is a member of the Mexican Research National System since 2010. His research interests and activities include wireless communications, antennas, radio propagation inside buildings, satellite communication systems, and high-altitude platforms.

Alejandro Aragón-Zavala received the Rómulo Garza Award for book writing in 2016 and a special distinction in 2009.  He was awarded National Inspiring Professor in 2017 and Borrego de Oro in 2014. He has written dozens of international research papers, three books for Wiley and Sons UK, two e-books for Editorial Digital ITESM and one for CEDDIE.
