Tecnológico de Monterrey, in its search to attract the best talent, has defined an admission process to predict the professional potential of its students evaluating aspects such as academic background, results of the admission test, among others.

Applicants will be admitted twice a year to start their program in either in Spring (January) or Fall (August). Admission to the program is not automatic. Applicants must send the requested documentation to the program adviser before the official deadline. The admission committee will decide, depending on the merits of each applicant and the lines of research of the program, which candidates are accepted.

Upon completion of your admission process, the adviser will guide you through the following steps to continue with the registration process (immigration process, class enrollment, new graduate student orientation session).



Application Process

To apply for admission, candidates must submit the following admission requirements:

  1. General and institutional admission requirements
    • Admission request: Fill the application form. Contact us to star your admission process. Addmisión form
    • Birth certificate: Must be the latest format. For foreigners, the certificate must be apostilled or authenticated, as the case may be.
    • Admission test: Applicants are required to take the GRE (Graduate Record Examination) or the Graduate Studies Admission Test (PAEP). The PAEP is provided only to those applicants already residing in Mexico. The GRE Test is administered by the Educational Testing Services (ETS). Visit for more information or to register for the test. Official scores must be sent directly by the testing agency to Tecnológico de Monterrey.
    • Previous studies:
      • Bachelor's degree for applicants pursuing a master's program, and the corresponding study certificate.
      • Master's degree for applicants pursuing a doctoral program, and the corresponding study certificate.
  1. Specific graduate admission requirements
    • Curriculum vitae: Updated CV with the achievements the applicant believes should be appropriate to highlight so that his/her admission is evaluated such as recognitions, thesis, publications, and assistance to congresses among others.
    • Recommendation letters: Submit at least three letters of recommendation from academics (professors, thesis adviser, etc.) who thoroughly know the academic performance and attitudinal qualities of the applicant. The recommendation letters should be sent directly to the program adviser at
    • Motives essay:  An essay in which the applicant emphasizes his/her path and abilities, and justifies his/her reasons and goals to pursue a graduate program, specifying the chosen specialization area, as well as a description of his/her area of knowledge and the research topic that he/she wishes to perform. In the essay, it must be specified its agreement with studying the full-time graduate program.
    • Interview: Those interested in the program must conduct an interview with the person or persons that the Program Admissions Committee decides. The interview takes place once the candidate has submitted its complete dossier with the documents specified in the requirements.
    • English proficiency: Non-native English speaker applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency upon admission to the program through the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). Admission result

Once you have all the admission requirements to the program you have chosen, the adviser will let you know the result of your application. The result could be:

  • Decision pending
  • Accepted
  • Not accepted
  • Waiting list (for programs with limited capacity)

The decision of the graduate Admissions Committee is final. Since the selection process is private and confidential, Tecnológico de Monterrey does not disclose to applicants the reasons for offering or denying admission.

Admission deadlines from 2018 Fall Semester (August)

Applicants are encouraged to submit all the admission requirements by no later than June 22th of 2018, for Asian students no later than April 3rd of 2018. Results will be announced July 2nd of 2018

Classes for the 2018 Fall Semester start on Monday, August 6th, 2018.

Admission deadlines from 2018 Spring Semester (January)

Applicants are encouraged to submit all the admission requirements by no later than November 16th, 2018, for Asian students no later than September 3rd of 2018. Results will be announced December 4th of 2018

Classes for the 2018 Spring Semester start on January 14th of 2019.
