Admission


The aim of our admission process is to get to know you, what you are passionate about and how you can contribute to our student community.

Applicants can be admitted in either the Spring (February) or the Fall (August) intake. Admission to the program is not automatic. Applicants must submit the required documentation to the admissions officer by the official deadline. The admissions committee decides whether or not candidates will be accepted, depending on each applicant’s merits and the lines of research of the program.

How do I start my admission process?

Candidates applying for admission must complete the following steps:

Complete your admission application and submit the required documentation


Documentation for international candidates with a degree from a foreign university

  • Hand-signed admission application. The signature must be the same as the one on the official ID. Click here to fill in your admission application.
  • Student’s official signature ID. Copy.
  • Birth certificate (1) (2). Copy.
  • Bachelor´s degree diploma (1) (2). Copy.
  • Master´s degree diploma (1) (2). Copy.
  • Official Bachelor’s degree transcript (1) (2). Copy.
  • Official Master´s degree transcript (1) (2). Copy.

(1) Documents must be legalized or apostilled for use in Mexico by the corresponding authority in the country of origin. Hague Convention countries APOSTILLE documents, while non-Hague Convention countries AUTHENTICATE documents.

(2) Documents that are in a language other than Spanish, must be submitted together with an original copy of a translation into Spanish by a certified translator.

All copies must be clear, legible and complete and can be submitted in digital format.

If revalidation of partial graduate studies is required, the candidate must comply with all the additional official documentation required for this process.

Please note that you will need to have all your documentation upon arrival at Tec de Monterrey. The official documentation requirements for enrollment are:

  • CURP (National Identification Number), provided when resident in Mexico. Copy.
  • Immigration form (FM), provided when first entering Mexico. Certified copy.

Schedule and take your admission test


Applicants are required to take the GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) or the Graduate Admission Test (PAEP). The PAEP is only for those applicants already residing in Mexico and who are proficient in Spanish. The GRE is administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). Visit www.ets.org for further information or to register for the test. Official scores must be sent directly by the testing agency to Tecnológico de Monterrey.

English proficiency: Non-native English speaker applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). Visit www.ets.org/es/toefl for further information or to register for the test. Official scores must be sent directly by the testing agency to Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Additional requirements


Specific graduate admission requirements.

  • Curriculum vitae: Share your academic credentials and professional accomplishments with us.
  • Letters of recommendation: Submit at least three letters of recommendation, which are professional references provided by a supervisor, colleague, business partner, strategic client, etc. They should describe in detail the professional performance and personal qualities of the applicant.
  • Essay: To give the admissions committee a good idea of who you are, your personal experiences and goals.
  • Interview: Those interested in the program will be interviewed by the person or persons designated by the Program Admissions Committee. The interview takes place once candidates have submitted their completed file with the documents specified in the requirements.

Some programs request additional requirements. Contact your program director or admission advisor for further information.

Obtain your admission result


Once you have completed all the admission requirements, our admissions committee will evaluate your application and your admission advisor will inform you of the result of your application.

The decision of the Admissions Committee is final. The selection process is private and confidential, Tecnológico de Monterrey does not disclose the reasons for applicants’ acceptance or rejection.

One you have been admitted, your admission advisor will guide you through the next steps to continue with the registration process (immigration procedures, class enrollment, new graduate student orientation session).


Admission deadlines from 2020 Spring Semester (February)

Applicants are encouraged to submit all the admission requirements by no later than November 16th, 2020, for Asian students no later than September 3rd of 2020. Results will be announced December 4th of 2020


Admission deadlines from 2020 Fall Semester (August)

Applicants are encouraged to submit all the admission requirements by no later than June 19th, 2020, for Asian students no later than April 17th, 2020. Results will be announced July 2nd of 2020


FINANCIAL AID

Since we aim to attract the best and most outstanding candidates to join our Graduate Engineering Programs, Tecnológico de Monterrey offers a full tuition scholarship for all candidates admitted as full-time students.

In addition, as our Graduate Engineering Programs have been accredited by the National Program for Quality Graduate Studies (PNPC) of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), our full-time students are eligible for a maintenance allowance.



APPENDICES

Curriculum vitae

Share your academic credentials and professional accomplishments with us. Please answer the following questions in as much detail as possible:

  • Write about your academic background, your degrees and areas of expertise.
  • Describe your work experience. Include your current and previous employment details.
  • Discuss relevant achievements such as exceeded targets, strategic projects managed, promotions awarded. Which achievements are you most proud of?
  • What skills or qualifications do you have that would differentiate you from other candidates?


Letter of recommendation

Letters of recommendation are professional references provided by a supervisor, colleague, business partner, strategic client, etc. They should describe in detail the professional performance and personal qualities of the applicant. The letter must include the referee’s contact data.

  • Please describe your relationship with the applicant.
  • Tell us about his/her accomplishments and experiences that make him/her a unique and perfect candidate for the program.
  • Please assess the applicant’s professional performance and personal qualities in comparison with colleagues in equal positions. How does he/she stand out?
  • How would you describe the applicant´s interpersonal skills?

Letters of recommendation from family members will not be accepted.



Essay

Your essay gives the admissions committee a good idea of who you are. Tell us more about yourself, discussing any or all of the following:

  • Why do you plan to attend graduate school? Explain how graduate school will contribute to your career goals. What is your primary motivation or purpose for studying at Tecnológico de Monterrey?
  • Identify your strengths and weaknesses. How will these contribute to your success as a graduate student and professional? In what way will you contribute to the program and to our graduate school?
  • Please provide details of any other information you deem relevant/important, which has not already been covered.

Letters of recommendation from family members will not be accepted.
